Scottsdale Getaway

A couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to spend a few days at a resort in Scottsdale (Ian's parents have a time share there). Michael came with us.

We had fun horsing around, swimming, staying up late watching the original Karate Kid, going to see the new Karate Kid and just relaxing.

There was a kiddie pool and splash pad. Evan was in heaven :)

There was also a game room. Michael and Xander stayed in there most of the time.

They locked Ben and Max out.

Ian and I spent most of the time by the pool reading. Ian started reading The Hunger Games. He's as hooked as I am! He just finished listening to Catching Fire on his I-pod (Paul checked it out from the library). We are counting down the days until the next one comes out.

Btw, I love shopping in Scottsdale. Thanks to Tiffany I know where the best Anthropologie is and where the best Rack is. Also, I think Scottsdale is the only place in Arizona where you will see people pushing their dog around in a stroller. Unbelieveable.

Ruby turns 1

On Saturday we went to Ruby's first birthday party.

This is Addy blowing out the candle on Ruby's cupcake. Luckily Ruby didn't care.

Then Rowan decided to help her eat the cake (even though there was another perfectly edible cake that Trina bought on the table).

The big boys ate their cake outside.

Max loves Ruby. He is so sweet with her.

Grandma got Ruby a purple tutu which she gladly modeled for everyone.

The Trezise's got Ruby a cellphone. Just what every girl needs.

It's fun bringing Michael places. He keeps the party going.

This picture makes me really miss Max. Max & Ben are at the cabin this week with grandma & grandpa. I'm so glad they got to go but I miss them.

The house seems too quiet.

Also, while I'm thinking of it: I love my family. In these past few months they have been there for me through thick and thin. They have helped me in countless ways. I feel so lucky. Just knowing I have people I can count on is such a comforting feeling. And I hope they know that they can count on me.

Day at the Lake

Saturday we went with some friends to Bartlett Lake. I've never been there before and it was absolutely beautiful. We were all so excited to get out of the house and do something fun.

We started off wake boarding. Corey showed us how it is done.

Xander went next. He got up on his 3rd try! It was awesome!

Ben went next. He had a hard time getting the hang of it, but I'm so glad he tried.

The other Alex went next. He was a pro.

Lynette went after Alex. I can't believe I didn't get any pictures of her. She was awesome! Then Ian went. It only took him 2 tries to get up and going.

After a while we stopped for lunch. The boys had a blast trying to catch fish. They caught a few in plastic bags and then threw them back.

Xander caught a crawdad. Of course.

After lunch we went tubing. The boys LOVED this. Ben, Alex and Chris loved going fast. There were a couple of times that I thought Ben would fly out he was laughing so hard, but he didn't.

Evan was dying to go, so Ian, Cameron & Alex went with him. Evan informed me today that Cameron is his best friend :).

Max loved it too. It was scary for me to see him flying all over the place, but he held on and didn't want to get off.

We had such a fun time. I've been feeling bad for Max & Ben because they haven't had much of a summer so far. They had an absolute blast! They also loved jumping off the boat and swimming in the lake with Chris and Cameron. The lake wasn't very crowded which was awesome. By the end Evan wanted to jump off the boat and swim with all the boys.

We are lucky to have such great friends.

Today

I got a new phone (it's purple!). Now I need to learn how to use it.

I yelled, "Me! Me!" when my boss asked who wanted to paint the office. Something is wrong with me.

I procrasinated writing my talk. Again.

I kissed Evan.

I listened to Xander talk about fish.

Ian listened to me talk about So You Think You Can Dance.

I had some really good salsa.

Ben and I shared an ice cream.

I learned how to do something new at work - that's what happens when Chris comes to work.

I missed my mom.

I wished Ian didn't have to go back to work.

was a good day.

Friendly fighting

Last week the G boys came over to play. Evan was so excited that Elliott wanted to play with him! Elliott is such a great kid - he's so laid back and happy. After a while they decided to wrestle on my bed....

Evan said, "I'm Green Goblin!" (when he wrestles with Ian they always pick Marvel characters to be). Elliott replied, "I'm Elliott!" Truth be told, Elliott didn't need an alter ego - he was awesome as himself.

I love Evan's face in this picture. He really gets into character.

Face smash!

Preparing for more.

Sneak attack!

They'd fight, get up and then circle each other.

I was amazed that there weren't any tears or yelling (which there are a lot of whenever Max is involved). Just friendly wrestling.

Elliott was the clear winner at the end - although we let Evan believe he won (it's quieter that way).

Boys are fun.

#38

Dear Ian,
Today is your birthday. I won't say how old you are because that's just mean. I thought about writing you a little poem, but the creative juices aren't flowing so I'd thought I'd list some things I love about you.

1. You can fix anything
2. You teach the boys to clean and work
3. You are much better at playing with them than I am
4. You try to come up with solutions to all of my problems
5. You are a hard worker
6. You think you can kick a 10 ft. ceiling
7. You keep me up to date on the music scene
8. You like the same tv shows as I do
9. You want me to read The Hobbitt
10. Most of all, I love that we are in this together. And that I can count on you...you know?

Happy Birthday!

Building

Evan loves legos.

They occupy him for hours.

And although they make a mess, I'm a fan of them too.

It's nice that something besides tv can keep his attention for so long.

On the subject of Evan, I have to admit he's one of my favorites right now. His behavior has calmed down a lot and he's so fun to be around. He's free with his kisses and hugs. He's says the cutest things. He LIKES to help me clean??? I'm so blessed to have him as my son (even though as I'm typing this he's throwing a fit because he needs an Oreo).

Class of 2010

On Wednesday, my nephew J graduated from highschool. He has a full ride running scholarship to ASU in the fall. He's one of the fastest runners in the state. We are all so proud of him.

I remember when he was little and I once told him that I knew everything. One day he called me and asked where his lost Star Wars figure was. I guess he took me seriously :).

I can't wait to see what he does with his life.
