Insomnia = injury

I sprained my ankle...again.  It's the other ankle this time so at least I'm an equal opportunity sprainer.

I couldn't sleep last night so I tossed and turned for hours.  Finally at about 5:30 this morning I decided to go for a run.  Nothing like a good run to clear my mind.  Later it became obvious to me that I should never make any sort of decisions when I am tired.  Hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

I'm really loving my phone because I can listen to music on it plus it tracks how far I run and how fast and how many calories I burn.  Seriously awesome.  So I'm fiddling with my phone when I pass my neighbors house down the street.  They have a small kiddie tub in their yard filled with concrete.  I remember that a few days ago there were scores of trucks with machinery at their house - going into the backyard.  All of a sudden I'm dying to know what they are building.  I walk out on Willis road and notice that I'm on the top of an incline and I can almost see their back yard from the road.  Almost.

I decide to jump up to see what's going on.  (I guess I thought I was Micheal Jordan).  I'm a firm believer in following my instincts and at that moment my instincts were screaming,"JUMP!"  So jump I did.  And then I landed sideways on my left ankle and heard all sorts of cracking sounds on the way down.

I might have said a curse word at this point.

I sat down and started throwing rocks and crying.  Throwing rocks because I'm mad and crying because my ankle hurts.  Really, really bad.  I sit there for a few minutes and then decide to still try to run.  Well, it turns out I was having trouble walking so...there was no way I'd be running.

It stinks.  I hate being immobile.  I HATE it.  And I hate not being able to run.  Running is one form of therapy that I need daily.  I'm so mad.  And the worst part is that I didn't even see what was going on in the back yard!

Stupid.

Exercised

 The weather was so lovely in March.  I did a few runs and hikes with friends.  Dr V talked me into doing a 5k with her on St. Patricks Day.  I almost beat her neighbor but he flew past me at the last minute.  Sheez.  Then Christy and I hiked Echo Canyon.  It's my favorite hike.  Trina introduced me to it back in January and I love it!
 I love hanging with Christy because she is so athletic and always up for anything!
 About a week later I made Adrienne do the hike with me.  She was worried that she wouldn't survive, but she did!

 We always have such a fun time together.
I'm thankful to have friends who love to hike and run and are willing to go with me.
