If there's a rocket tie me to it

One of my favorite songs:

Snow Patrol is one of my favorite bands. They are Irish and Scottish so it's really no surprise. The new album came out last week - it's like a "best of album" but it has 3 new songs. My favorite of the three is Give Me Strength, but this one is pretty awesome too. I was surprised that there are quite a few songs I didn't know. I can't stop listening to it - good music makes me so happy. Here's to hoping they come on tour...SOON!

Yeah, that's right

Holly chatting with the band

A picture of the band with 2 unknowns (clearly not us)

I not only got to go to the concert (Ian got home in time) but WE MET THE BAND!!!!!! In this picture the keyboardist is signing my shirt. Yeah, that's right. I got my shirt signed. I did want to ask them to sign my boobs but I was afraid they wouldn't be able to find them. This picture was taken right after Holly mentioned that we were "cougars". You can see our faces turning red. That Holly is a crack up. In fact, Tiffany and I had to drag her away from the band - she was telling them all about how she is about to turn 40 and she has four kids to which Gary (yeah, that's right - we are on a first-named basis) replied, "You don't look 40" (she really doesn't). And he shook her hand (after she asked). I told her NEVER to wash her hand again. EVER. I don't think she took me seriously.

So here's the thing. I really thought I was kind of over concerts. I thought, "I'm too old." You know? That I'm better with the concerts where you have a seat, can sit down and enjoy the band. Boy was I wrong. It turns out I LOVE crowded rooms permeating with the stench of beer and smoke. Where you can feel the music pulsing through your bones. And you are trapped in the midst of the crowd but you don't care because the band is 10 feet from you singing their guts out. Turns out I LOVE THAT! This concert made my top 3. Easy. And did I mention it was free?

Snow Patrol

In case you couldn't tell, my current band of choice is Snow Patrol. What's not to love about a half Irish/half Scottish band?

Their new c.d. "A Hundred Million Suns" is beautiful. My favorite song, "The Planets Bend Between Us" is (in my humble opinion) lyrically, one of their best. I love all of the imagery he uses in his songs.

A while ago Ian, Tiffany, Jason and I saw them in concert at The Dodge Theater. They were great, but I'm looking forward to Tuesday night, when they will be playing a much smaller venue (and for free!). I'm going to get my groove on. And then some.

My 5 favorite Snow Patrol Songs (in no particular order):

1. Chocolate

2. Crack the Shutters

3. If there's a rocket tie me to it

4. The planets bend between us

5. Signal Fire

Do you have a favorite?

P.S. go ahead and youtube them - you won't be sorry. My favorite video was Chocolate or Spitting Games.
